Group Swim Lessons - 2017
This year, the CCC is
offering three different group swimming lessons for young children. We have scheduled these
classes during the day and in the evening to cater to both stay-at-home,
as well as working parent’s schedules. All classes are offered for 6
sessions.
Toddler & Me Swim Class:Designed for toddlers and their favorite adult who want to learn water adjustment, basic swimming and safety skills in a fun environment. Skills that will be worked on include: entering water via the stairs, blowing bubbles and putting their face in the water, floating with assistance, and kicking. Flotation devices should not be worn in this class. Your child’s designated adult must be with them in the water at all times.
Children’s Group Swimming Class – Level 1: This class will focus on gaining basic water skills to include blowing bubbles through mouth and nose, and submerging face under water. The children will also practice floating and gliding on their front and back, treading water, and swimming with assistance from instructors. Child must be willing to leave parent willingly, be comfortable in the water and follow directions in a group. Floatation devices will not be worn in this class.
Children’s Group Swimming Class – Level 2: This class will focus on developing basic swimming skills including breathing, floating on front and back, treading water, arm movements and swimming independently. Prerequisite: children who are already comfortable submerging their face under water; who can swim 2 body lengths with assistance; and who can also float for 3 seconds on their front and back. Child must be willing to leave parent willingly, be comfortable in the water and follow directions in a group. Floatation devices will not be worn in this class.

INSTRUCTOR
EXPERIENCE
Instructor for all classes will be Cynthia Temeles; if there are more than 4 children in level 1 or 2, there will be an assistant instructor as well.
This is the second year Cynthia has been teaching at the CCC and we're so lucky to have her return. Cynthia has been
competitively swimming for twelve years. She has been a NVSL Allstar in
backstroke three times and was part of the York Junior Olympic team twice. At
the age of 13, she began coaching the 3-7 year old program for Lee Graham Swim
Team (NVSL). She was then a hired lane coach for the Wakefield Chapel Wahoos’
summer and winter programs. She also worked as an assistant coach for the
winter club team Victory Lane Aquatic Club for a year before becoming an
assistant coach for the club team Palmetto Aquatics in South Carolina. This
summer she is an assistant and technique coach for Wakefield Chapel.
Private Lessons: We’ve also gathered a roster of private lesson instructors for kids who may do better in a one-on-one setting. See the guard desk for the list of instructors. Individual arrangements for scheduling and payment can made directly with the instructors.
